      There has been lots of research carried out looking at air pollution and premature death. The current figure for the UK is that around 40,000 people die earlier than expected each year due to long term exposure to air pollution. In 2012 the World Health Organisation (WHO) also reported that around 7 million people died – one in eight of total global deaths – as a result of air pollution exposure.
