I just had a natural curiosity to understand the world around me! That’s really all it takes, to ask important questions (like you just did) – and then to seek out answers by whatever means possible! This may be a hands on approach (experimenting), it may even be thinking very hard about it… usually these two activities go hand in hand!

Just like Urslaan I had a natural curiosity and I wanted to know how everything worked! I knew I wanted to work with animals and always wanted to combine the two 🙂

I’ve always been fascinated by the natural world but although we think that we understand the world around us we still have very little knowledge in reality and there will always be unanswered questions. I guess if you are trying to figure out some of these questions or solve the bigger problems that affect us all then you probably want to be a scientist. I realised this at an early age whilst at school as I enjoyed science classes more than most of the other subjects that I studied, it just seemed to make more sense to me!

For most of my life, I didn’t want to be a scientist. It was only after becoming one that I realised how much I enjoy that way of life.

I have always been interesting in solving problems so being a scientist always seemed like a great way to do it
