Lots of things have made me proud. My first week as an engineer I got to climb onto Paddington Station roof to do an inspection and I was very proud when I told somebody who shouted out a window “who are you?” that I was an engineer. I was very proud when the first thing I ever designed on my own got built which was a junction on a road. I guess my best achievement is getting chartered which means I am recognised as a professional engineer.

For me, it was getting my research officially published in scientific journals. It means my work was recognised as unique and meaningful by experts in the field! That really did make me feel proud. I currently have four papers published as “first author” (meaning I did most of the work for it), which is great as a junior researcher!
