Excellent question, and something that we should all be concerned about. I’m only in my 30s but I can already see a big difference in my lifetime in how the animals and plants around us are doing. The climate is changing more quickly than species can adapt, and it is causing all sorts of problems. For example, the small birds in your garden time their breeding so that their young hatch from their eggs at the time when caterpillar numbers peak… but climate change is messing up all these timings, so young birds in their nests are not getting the right types of food. These kinds of mismatches are happening more frequently now, and species are starting to go extinct because of climate change. It’s something that we need to act on now.
